FINE ARTS FEATURES
Anné Hughes, Director of Fine Arts
At Shelton, fine arts are an integral part of
our students’ educational journey, nurturing
creativity, critical thinking and a strong sense
of community. Through Theatre Arts, students
grow in self-expression, building confidence
while exploring diverse perspectives through
the study and performance of plays and
musicals. Our vocal and instrumental music
programs instill discipline and foster teamwork
while enhancing cognitive abilities and
supporting emotional well-being. Visual arts
inspire students to communicate their ideas
through imagery, nurturing imagination and
honing problem-solving skills. Photography
and Film offer dynamic ways for students to
tell their own stories while developing technical
expertise and visual literacy.
The Moody Fine Arts
Center, with its beauty and
functionality, serves as
a vibrant hub for artistic
exploration and collaboration.
Here, students come together
in a space where creativity
thrives, enriching both their
FINE ARTS
artistic and academic growth.
By immersing themselves in
these disciplines, students cultivate a deeper
understanding and appreciation of the arts,
preparing them for success in both their
personal and academic futures.

works by Shelton art students of all grade levels.
An exciting addition to the program this year is
the dedicated ceramics program in grades seven

created by Upper School students. Artwork by
