Middle School Sports
Football
Boys Soccer
Under new coach Michael Cooper, the tackle football team
earned four wins during the season with a roster of 50
players. Fifth- and sixth-grade students played flag football
through the SVAA league, with four teams participating.
Led by coaches Frank Arana and Eddie Moreno, Shelton
advanced to the TAPS championship game and finished as
runner-up.
Girls Soccer
The girls team continued its success this season, advancing
to the TAPS semifinals and finishing in third place.
Volleyball
Division I and Division II volleyball teams competed in TAPS
and both earned playoff opportunities. The Division III team
played games at the Sportsplex, while the fifth- and sixthgrade teams competed in SVAA.
Cross Country
Shelton competed in several meets, with athletes improving
their times throughout the season.
Cheer
Led by Ty Smith, 24 girls prepared and performed at pep
rallies, football games and basketball games.
Baseball
The team finished
another strong season,
placing third in the
regular season and in
the TAPS postseason
tournament. The fifthand sixth-grade teams
played through the
Carrollton-Farmers
Branch Association.
Tennis
The tennis team
had another strong
season, with several
players advancing in
the TAPS postseason
tournament.
Golf
Coaches Mark Lamoreaux and David Fletcher led a
successful season that saw many players improve their scores
and knowledge of the game.
Track and Field
Shelton hosted two meets,
with the team placing high in
every competition. Athletes had
multiple individual wins and
many set personal records.
Boys Basketball
Both Division I and Division II basketball teams earned
playoff spots in TAPS, with the Division II team advancing to
the semifinals. Two Division III teams, two sixth-grade teams
and two fifth-grade teams all competed in the SVAA league.
Girls Basketball
Shelton fielded both a Division I and Division II team, and
both qualified for the TAPS playoffs. The fifth-grade girls
team competed in SVAA, earning three wins.
