ABOUT THE ARTIST:
CHARLIE WOLF
Charlie Wolf, a senior at Shelton, finds
peace and clarity through creating art.
“It’s one of the few things that can get
my mind to quiet down,” she says.
“It’s a way to paint vivid depictions of
the stories in my head that tend to
be swifter and easier for the world to
understand than a 200-page novel.”
At Shelton, Charlie feels supported
and empowered. “I feel accepted and
understood for my learning difference,
and I’ve learned to realize that my ADHD
is not always an obstacle, but something
that can sometimes work in my favor.”
In Memory of Karen Shaw
This issue of Horizon is dedicated to our dear colleague Karen Shaw,
who passed away Sept. 20, 2025. Karen was part of the Shelton family
since 1998, serving in the Middle School, most recently as a permanent
substitute and also supporting the aftercare program. She touched
countless lives with her kindness and dedication.
Shelton Executive Director Suzanne Stell shared, “If a teacher, parent or
student ever needed something — even just words of encouragement
or a listening ear — Karen always made the time to help at the very
moment it was needed most and she always did it with a smile.”
