Gold Award: 250+ hours
“Throughout high school, I’ve dedicated
more than 300 hours to community
service, with 260 of those spent
volunteering at a summer camp
mentoring 7- and 8-year-olds for an entire
month. These kids might not otherwise
have the chance to enjoy such a meaningful experience, so
we worked hard to give them the best month of their lives.
Upper School Honors Ceremony
“When I was younger, I attended a summer camp and had
an unforgettable time, all thanks to the counselors who
guided, supported and helped shape who I am today. Their
positive impact inspired me to step into that same role to be
a mentor and role model for the next generation of campers.
In addition to the summer camp, I’ve also volunteered with
Feed My Starving Children, an organization that provides
nutritious meals to children in need around the world. It’s
incredibly rewarding to know the food we pack is helping
families who are facing hunger and hardship.

“To other students considering community service, I’d say
this: Choose something that genuinely means something
to you. For me, it’s all about uplifting younger kids,
encouraging them
to grow into kind,
strong individuals
and helping families
in poverty-stricken
areas. When your
heart is in it, the
impact you make
becomes even more
powerful.”
The following students were recognized at the
2024 Upper School Honors Ceremony.
Throughout the year, Shelton students have
dedicated significant time to serving the
community. Many of our students have gone
above and beyond the required service hours,
and we are proud to recognize their outstanding
contributions. The following individuals completed
