John Newby is a leader
in an organization
that specializes in
commercial insurance
and surety bonds for
contractors, with 35
years of experience
in financial, risk and
business consulting. A graduate of the
University of Michigan, he also earned
his MBA from Pepperdine University.
As chair of Shelton’s board, Newby
draws on his professional experience and
strong commitment to Shelton’s mission
to support strategic planning, financial
stewardship, governance and community
engagement. He is married and has two
adult children, including a Shelton alumnus.

Former Shelton Board Chair Gary Webb Honored
Before Charger Football kickoff at Homecoming 2025,
longtime Shelton leader Gary Webb was honored as honorary
captain in celebration of the school’s 50th anniversary. A
board member since 1998 and chair from 2010 to 2024, Webb
helped lead the way for Shelton’s new campus. He was joined
on the field by his family — son Adam (Class of 2000) with
wife Tiffany and daughter Birdie; daughter Samantha (Class of
2004) with husband Beau and children Caden and Presley; and
daughter Malley with husband TJ and children Ella and Amelia.
