What was your favorite experience at Shelton?
Theatre, because I met most of my friends there.
What was your favorite class?
My English classes were my favorite. I also had several
favorite teachers, especially Kate Kelley, who was so helpful
in my Honors Algebra II class.
What are your college plans?
I attend Trinity University, where I major in Biology or
Biochemistry to become a physician or veterinarian.

How has Shelton impacted your life?
Shelton increased my confidence in math, and I was able to
take honors math courses I never thought I would.
Clubs and sports: Football, Track (State
champion in Shot Put in 2024 and
2025), Investment Club, Sports Club
Would you recommend Shelton?
Yes, definitely. I would encourage students to start in the
lower grades rather than waiting until high school.
Learning differences: ADHD and
dyslexia
What advice do you have for new students?
Join clubs because everyone is welcoming. Get to know your
teachers because they want to build personal connections
and help you succeed. Advocate for yourself.
What are your college and career aspirations?
I attend Hofstra University, where I study creative writing
and publishing. I hope to work in a publishing company and
eventually write my own books.

What was your favorite experience at
Shelton?
My favorite experience was the summer trips. I’ve been
lucky enough to explore Pennsylvania, Gettysburg and
Washington, D.C., and to travel abroad to Southern England
and Italy. I enjoyed learning about each place’s unique
history and admiring the artwork and architecture.
What were your favorite classes?
While I enjoyed all of my classes, I especially looked forward
to History and Science. Mr. Paxton, Mrs. Lubbers and
Mr. Crabtree made history come alive and fun. Ms. Moody,
Ms. Connolly and Dr. Cason made science endlessly
fascinating.
How has Shelton impacted your life?
I am forever grateful to Shelton. Before Shelton, I struggled
to read and often became frustrated trying to keep up
with my peers. My teachers at Shelton were patient and
supportive and guided me through reading therapy. They
also helped me navigate my anxiety. Shelton gave me a safe
place to breathe, get organized and learn from teachers who
understand learning differences.
Would you recommend Shelton?
Yes. I would definitely recommend Shelton to students with
learning differences. The small classes allow me to focus
more and learn better in an encouraging environment.
Shelton has wonderful, supportive teachers and friendly
students.
What was your favorite experience at Shelton?
My favorite experience was away track meets.
Who was your favorite teacher?
Ms. Kelley, my Algebra II teacher, was my favorite because of
the impact she made on me in class.
How has Shelton impacted your life?
Shelton has impacted my life in many ways, especially by
helping me develop better organizational skills.
Would you recommend Shelton?
Yes. Shelton has amazing staff who not only care about
teaching you now but also give you the skills to keep
learning in the future.
What advice do you have for new students?
Socialize. Switching schools is hard, but if you go out and
make the best of it instead of shying away from people,
things will be much easier.
What are your college plans?
I attend Carnegie Mellon University, where I compete in
football and track and field and major in Ethics, History and
Public Policy.

Shelton?
Being on the soccer team and playing for Coach Peterson.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your teachers are there to
help you and want the best for you.
How has Shelton impacted your life?
I have learned how to advocate for myself and have grown
as a student.
Would you recommend Shelton?
Yes. Shelton gives students with learning differences an
environment to reach their full potential.
What are your college and career aspirations?
I attend Stephen F. Austin State University, where I major
