Back to School Prep Week
July 28th - August 1st
Back to School Prep Week takes place Monday, July 28 Friday, August 1, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The class will
provide students with helpful information and structure for
the upcoming academic year. Back to School Prep week will
have limited enrollment in order to keep the student-teacher
ratio low, so register now. This class is only offered to Shelton
students entering 1st - 12th grades.
Grades 1 – 2
9:00 - 12:00
Back to School Prep Week for Shelton students entering the 1st or 2nd grade includes a three-hour multi-age session.
The class is taught by trained Shelton teachers. The student-teacher ratio will be a maximum of 6:1. The Back to School
Prep class will provide practice in writing skills, reading comprehension strategies, and will review fundamental math
skills through multisensory materials.
Reading (decoding) and Reading Comprehension: will include instruction and practice of reading skills through the
use of auditory discrimination and application of phonetic word attack skills. In addition, students will work on enriching
comprehension skills.
Writing: will include letter formation, cursive handwriting and basic sentence composition.
Math: will include fundamental math skills and review in preparation for the beginning of school.
Grades 3 – 4
