Fun With Music
Grades K – 2
Most students love music. What better way to enjoy and learn about music than through the use of a variety of
instruments. Students will learn about reading rhythms and simple melodies by playing the xylophone, recorder, drums,
Latin percussion, and Boomwhackers! In this class, we will explore how these instruments are made, how they make a
sound, and how practicing and playing together creates a song! No experience is necessary.
Outdoor Adventures
Grades K – 2
This class will explore gardens, forests, and other outdoor spaces and learn about the plants and animals that inhabit
them. We will study birds, dragonflies, bees, butterflies, fairies, and other creatures, as well as all the plants and flowers
that surround them. Using art, stories, and play, we will learn all about the plants and animals in nature!
LEGO® Builders in Motion
Grades 1 – 2
Builders will be challenged to work in groups using the Bric! Motion Essential LEGO kit to create a spring launcher for
derby cars, balance a tightrope walker, create ramps for relay racing, build an obstacle course for dogs, and more! Little
innovators will be encouraged to practice building skills by using the picture guide book as well as invent their own ideas
to solve the problem presented. Students won’t realize they are experimenting with force and motion in each and every
challenge, all while having fun through hands-on learning!
LEGO® Robotics
Grades 3 – 4
Students will use the WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack, which covers life, physical, earth and space sciences, as well as
engineering. While working with a partner and using LEGO building elements, students will use a programmable
SmartHub, enhanced motors and sensors to create solutions to different challenges.
Makerspace
Grades 1 - 4
Is your child curious, always looking for something new to discover, create, explore and make connections? The
Makerspace is the ultimate workshop that provides a hands-on approach to designing and creating. The jump-off
point will be books, but then the students will take the projects to multiple dimensions and beyond. For example, using
Welcome to Mars, students will plan a trip to Mars and build a shelter to live in when they get there. Modeled after Nobel
Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai, students will plant tree seedlings, recycle coffee pods, and mix up seed bombs.
Guaranteed fun and practical learning for everyone.
Reading Comprehension Strategies
Grades 4 – 5
Searching for strategies to improve your child’s reading comprehension? In this class, students will receive direct
instruction for developing comprehension strategies, such as following directions, getting the facts, detecting sequences,
using context, getting the main idea, drawing conclusions, making predictions, creating imagery, and questioning.
Strategies like these make reading a pleasurable experience.
