Enrichment Course Descriptions-Afternoon
Fine Motor Fun
Grades 1-4
This class will use tactile media such as sensory bins, putty, diamond art, q-tip painting, and more to make
your child’s hands strong for writing skills! Students will also work on correct formation of cursive
handwriting and improve students’ accuracy of size and proportion.
Fun With Music
Grades K–2
Does your child love music? What better way to enjoy and learn about music than through the use of a
variety of instruments. Students will learn about reading rhythms and simple melodies by playing the
xylophone, recorder, drums, Latin percussion, and Boomwhackers! In this class, we will explore how these
instruments are made, how they make a sound, and how practicing and playing together creates a song!
No experience is necessary.
LEGO® Builders in Motion
Grades 1-2
Builders will be challenged to work in groups using the Bric! Motion Essential LEGO kit to create a spring
launcher for derby cars, balance a tightrope walker, create ramps for relay racing, build an obstacle
course for dogs, and more! Little innovators will be encouraged to practice building skills by using the
picture guide book as well as invent their own ideas to solve the problem presented. Students won’t
realize they are experimenting with force and motion in each and every challenge, all while having fun
through hands-on learning!
LEGO® Robotics
Grades 3-4
Students will use the WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack, which covers life, physical, earth and space sciences, as
well as engineering. While working with a partner and using LEGO building elements, students will use a
programmable SmartHub, enhanced motors and sensors to create solutions to different challenges.
