Course Descriptions
Cheer and Dance
Grades 5-6
Cheer and Dance will introduce a variety of dance techniques and genres such as Ballet, Jazz, and Cheer Pom.
Every class will begin with a stretching and core-strengthening warmup set to high energy music. Warmups
will carry over into learning fun and age appropriate choreography that will help students build performance
skills and confidence, while also improving coordination, strength, and flexibility. Athletic shoes are required.
Communication Skills
Grades 5-8
This class will help students learn to communicate, solve problems and make good decisions, empowering
them to interact with others. Students will engage in activities, fun videos, role-playing games, and hands-on
projects. The focus will be on conversation skills, reading body language, and being flexible thinkers.
Computational Math Skills
Grades 5-8
Can your student recall math facts as quickly as needed for classroom success? This class is designed to
improve students’ memory and speed through multisensory drills and computer games. Students will learn
strategies that can be used year-round to reinforce math facts.
Computer Keyboarding
Grades 5-8
Does your child need to strengthen keyboarding skills in order to work more effectively on the computer? In
this class, students will learn multisensory touch-typing and the skills needed to improve their keyboarding
skills. The goal for students is to improve their typing speed to be better than their best handwriting speed.
Student attendance the first week of class is essential in order to ensure foundation skills are learned.
Digital Animation
Grades 7-8
This course will introduce students to the technical skills used in the 3D animation process from modeling to
rendering. Students will learn the basics of 3D modeling, surfacing, rigging, animation, lighting, and rendering
techniques in Blender (a 3D animation suite). Students will first create a 3D environment with primitives and
pose a character rig. Animation projects include a guided bouncing ball animation and customized obstacle
course animation.
