Course Descriptions
Drone Flying
Grades 5-8
Drone Flying will change the way kids see our world as their video cameras become airborne and they
record their own in-flight film. Kids will begin with learning piloting basics and aviation safety, then jump
into acrobatic/aerial tricks, precision flight exercises and drone racing! This class has an additional
equipment fee of $25.
Drumline and Percussion Ensemble
Grades 5-8
Has your child ever wanted to learn to play the drums? This class is for drummers of all levels. Students will
learn fundamental rudiments of snare, bass, tenor, marching drums, and basic mallet percussion. Students
will improve their sheet music reading and drumming technique culminating in a drumline cadence.
Esports
Grades 7-8
Does your child enjoy video games? Shelton offers an esports (electronic sports) summer program.
Students will play Madden NFL, Rocket League, and League of Legends. These three video games are
school appropriate and rated E for everyone and T for Teen. Esports is one of the fastest growing
extracurricular activities among middle and high school students, earning some students college
scholarships. In addition to learning the three video games, students will play in tournaments. Capacity is
limited as special equipment and technology is required for each participant. Students must provide their
own wired controller.
First Aid and Disaster Preparedness
Grades 5-8
Students will learn how to perform first aid/CPR on adults, children and infants and how to prepare for
natural disasters. They will learn to bandage and splint an injury, and how to respond to emergency
situations. We will create home emergency plans and learn valuable tips for home safety. Prevention of
accidents will be taught as well. This is a fun and valuable class for all!
Grade levels refer to the grade students will enter in the fall.
Shelton students are given priority on or before April 14.
Aftercare is available for grades 5-8 from 3:30-5:30.
