ART II — INTERMEDIATE VISUAL ART
This course builds upon students’ understanding of the elements and principles
of design learned in the introduction course, with a greater emphasis on
projects. Through the works of major artists, students are introduced to the four
major philosophies of art and are encouraged to develop their own styles and
philosophies as they learn and improve their technical skills. Other topics include
portrait drawing, caricature, and sculpture. Additionally, each student researches
an individual master artist and completes a final project done in the style of
the master artist. Students are encouraged to enter art competitions when
appropriate opportunities exist. Student work will be displayed at school, and
students will participate in our annual Gallery Reception.
